Rafał Lisowski

Rafał Lisowski

Graduate of the Faculty of English Studies at the University of Warsaw. He claims that he did not choose translation – instead, it was translation that chose him. He translates literary prose, popular literature, young adult novels, thrillers, crime fiction, fantasy and non-fiction. He also happened to translate guidebooks, as well as screenplays. He values variety, because he believes it to be the only thing that keeps the translator’s brain working at top gear. He believes that high literature requires excellent translation, and popular literature requires even better translation, because it is what reaches a broad audience. He does not shy away from translating from Polish into English, although he will not deal with every text out there. He has more than 50 published literary translations to his name. President of the Literary Translators’ Association.
