Sarah Monique Broom
(born 1979) – a writer publishing in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Oxford American, O, The Oprah Magazine and many others. A native of New Orleans, she graduated in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley in 2004. In 2016, she won the Whiting Foundation Creative Nonfiction Grant. Finalist of the New York Foundation in the competition for a creative scholarship in non-fiction. She has also been awarded scholarships at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program and The MacDowell Colony. She lives in New York State.
