Serhiy Zhadan

(born 1974) – Ukrainian writer, poet and translator from German, German teacher by education. for his novel Mesopotamia, the Berlin Bridges Award and the Joseph Conrad Literary Prize. His books have been translated into sixteen languages. His poetry volumes Історіякультурипочаткустоліття (The History of Culture at the Beginning of This Century), Дрогóбич (‘Drohobych’) and Ефіопія (Ethiopia) were published in Polish, along with six books of prose: БіґМак (Big Mac), Depeche Mode, Anarchy in the UKR, Гімндемократичноїмолоді (Anthem of Democratic Youth), Voroshilovgrad and Mesopotamia. He lives in Kharkiv.He has won many awards, including the 2015 Angelus Central European Literary Award
