Sigrid Nunez

(born 1951) – American writer of Chinese origin. She has published seven novels, including A Feather on the Breath of God, The Last of Her Kind and Salvation City. For her latest novel, The Friend , she won the prestigious National Book Award in 2018 and became a finalist of the Simpson/Joyce Carol Oates Prize in 2019. She is the author of the famous biography Sempre Susan: A Memoir of Susan Sontag. Sigrid Nunez is also a winner of the Whiting Writer’s Award, the Berlin Prize Fellowship, the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award, the Rome Prize in Literature and the Guggenheim Scholarship. She has published in The New York Times, The New York Times Books Review, The Wall Street Journal, Tin House, The Paris Review and McSweeney’s, among others. Nunez’s works have been translated into more than twenty languages. Sigrid Nunez was born in New York and lives there to this day. She is currently a resident writer at Boston University.
