Tadeusz Nyczek

Literary, theatre and plastic arts critic. Graduate of Polish studies at the Jagiellonian University and of direction at the State Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw. Nyczek has been publishing in the literary and cultural press since 1969. In 1982–1989, he worked as the editor of the underground magazine Arka, in which he published under the pseudonym Rayska (in the Paris edition – as Woyski). In 1984–1992, together with Maciej Szybist, he run the well-known Krakow art gallery Inny Świat. In 1989, he received the B. Szulowska award. In May 1998, he was granted the Krakow Book of the Month Award for 22 razy Szymborska. In 2000, he received the Kazimierz Wyka Award for the entirety of his activity as a literary critic. Nyczek is also the author of a fundamental anthology of New Wave poetry, Określona epoka. Apart from that, he attempted to write a monograph on the works of Adam Zagajewski, one of the most recognised and appreciated Polish authors today, as no such study had been produced before.
