Wojciech Charchalis

translator, eminent Iberian Studies scholar, university professor, translator of works from Spanish, Portuguese and English. He has translated more than 80 books, including the works of Portuguese Nobel laureate José Saramago, Cervantes’ Don Quixote , the poetry of Fernando Pessoa, the novels of Mario Vargas Llosa, Javier Marias, António Lobo Antunes, Gonçal M. Tavares and many others, and worked as an editor of the Brazilian Literature Series at the Poznań-based Rebis publishing house. He teaches Portuguese literature at the Institute of Romance Studies of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, he has also served as Head of the Chair of Literature at the Jean Piaget de Cabo Verde University in Cidade da Praia, Cape Verde. Laureate of the2022 Wisława Szymborska Award for the best translation of a volume of poetry published in 2018-2021 into Polish (Heteronimy. Utwory wybrane by Fernando Pessoa).
