Kurdish-Swedish author, born in 1983 in Tehran, she moved to Sweden with her family at the age of seven. She writes in Swedish and made her debut in 2018 with the critically acclaimed feminist dystopia Event Horizon, which will be published in Poland autumn 2023 in the translation by Agata Teperek by the Marpress publishing house in the Baltic series. The novel was nominated for the Swedish debutant award Katapultpriset. In 2021, Karam's second novel Singularitet was published and brought her nominations to Sweden’s most important literary award, Augustpriset, and the European Union Prize for Literature. On a daily basis, Karam works in a library in Rinkeby, an immigrant suburb of Stockholm.
