When living in a given place becomes untenable, we start dreaming of a journey, even the most dangerous one. This thought is how the protagonist Balsam Karam’s ends up participating in a space expedition, just to avoid death on Earth. She does not choose freedom – it is not her way to escape, merely a way to extend life. Can one still feel hope, even when dealing with such a fate? What could one hope for? That the experiment will fail? That it will be possible to slip away? Where can one escape in a boundless void? We are going to talk with Balsam Karam about the condition of the oppressed, who resist to the very end, who fight against all odds for one more breath, for one more minute of life – because it is the only thing they have.
