Elżbieta Janota

Born in Katowice 1990, currently lives in Rybnik. She studied applied French and English languages at the University of Silesia and English literature at Royal Holloway University of London. Member of the Literary Translators’ Association, translator of fiction, non-fiction and children's literature. In May 2023, she received the Vivelo Book Award for her translation of Maya Angelou's  book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Together with Paulina Rzymanek, she hosts the Już tłumaczę podcast and organises literary, cultural and educational events. Her interests revolve around feminism and minority rights. In her free time, she learns Irish dancing. She translated Grégoire Bouillier's award-winning work The Heart Does Not Give In.
