Laura Freudenthaler
She was born in Salzburg and currently lives in Vienna. The year 2014 saw the release of her collection of her short stories Der Schädel von Madeleine. Her novel Die Königin schweigt won the 2018 Förderpreis zum Bremer Literaturpreis and was hailed as the best German debut at the Festival du premier roman de Chambéry. In 2019, she published her second novel – Geistergeschichte (Ghost Story, translated into Polish by Eliza Borg, Od do, 2021) – which brought her the 2019 European Union Prize for Literature. Her new book Arson is slated to be released in September 2023.
