Philippe Claudel

Writer, director and screenwriter. He taught at a high school, as well as at a hospital, a centre for children with disabilities and a detention centre in Nancy, where he worked for 12 years. In 2001, he received his doctorate with honours for his dissertation on André Hardellet’s oeuvre and began teaching literature and cultural anthropology at the University of Nancy (Université de Lorraine), as well as screenwriting. His first novel was released in 1991. Since then, he has published some forty books, mostly novels, which have been translated and released around the world. In 2003, he won Prix Goncourt for Âmes grises. In addition, he has won numerous literary awards and worked as an acclaimed director. His film I've Loved You So Long won the 2008 César Award for Best First Feature Film, was nominated for two Golden Globes and shortlisted for the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language.

In 2021, a comic book by Manu Larcenet based on Le Rapport de Brodeck (translated by Katarzyna Sajdakowska, Mandioca) was released in Poland.
