Stanisław Waszak

A journalist and a correspondent for more than 30 years, recently appointed the head of the Warsaw bureau of Agence France-Presse. Laureate (together with René Koelblen) of the 2023 Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński Award of the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk for Translation Work for his translation of Georges Perec’s book A Void (Lokator, Kraków, 2022). Author of many translations of French, Russian and English songs into Polish. For three years he co-taught song translation classes with René Koelblen at the University of Warsaw's Institute of Romance Studies. Winner of the Grand Prix of the 1986 Festival of French Song in Lubin. He is a musician and singer of Piąty Dzień, contributing to its repertoire based on his own and René Koelblen's translations.
