Some apples are already born old. Première of Barbara Klicka’s book Reneta

As part of the “Conrad after hours” series announcing the 15th edition of the Conrad Festival (October 23–29), we invite you to a meeting with Barbara Klicka, winner of the Gdynia Literary Award, who will talk about her latest book Reneta (WAB publishing house). The talk will be hosted by Anna Marchewka.

Barbara Klicka

Author of books of poetry, the novel Zdrój and the stage poem Elementarz, playwright, cultural animator and editor. She debuted in 2000 with a book of poetry, and in 2012 she published a volume entitled same same nominated for the Wrocław Silesius Poetry Award in the category “book of the year”. In 2015 she published the book nice, which won her the 2016 Wrocław Silesius Poetry Award and the Gdynia Literary Award. In 2017, she wrote the drama Elementarz, which was staged at the National Theatre in Warsaw, directed by Piotr Cieplak (première 7 December 2017). In 2019, she made her prose début with the novel Zdrój (WAB publishing house), nominated to the Gdynia Literary Award. Together with Jacek Dehnel, Piotr Wójcik, Małgorzata Tekiel and the “Tajny” team, she co-created the project “Nowy Tajny Detektyw”, which included a book and a CD inspired by the Tajny Detektyw magazine published before the war. From 2010 to 2014, she was editor of the quarterly magazine on Jewish literature and art Cwiszn. In the years 2017-2019, she was the literary curator of the Roman Gutek Podlasie SlowFest festival held in Supraśl. She is a columnist for Dialog, a member of the Literary Union Association, a contributor to the on-line library WolneLektury.pl and, from 2019, one of the curators of the European Poet of Freedom Festival.

The event is organised by: KBF - cultural institution of the City of Kraków, operator of the Kraków - UNESCO City of Literature programme, Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation, WAB publishing house.
