Workshops: How to walk with Robert Walser?
How to walk with Robert Walser?
Host: Łukasz Musiał
The Swiss writer was widely seen as the most resilient and persistent walker among modernist writers. He walked constantly – he saw walking as a way to escape his obligations, people, places and even thoughts, to the point where whenever he went for a walk, he would drop everything he had been doing up to that point to clear his head and open up to new impressions and emotions stimulating his imagination. In his text on Walser, Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben claimed that walking allowed him to transcend the opposition between subject and object of an activity. Walking allowed him to reach a state of absolute harmony. Łukasz Musiał, translator and researcher of the Swiss author's works, is going to talk about walking like Walser in our lives.
