Hosts: Olga Godlewska and Bartosz Wójcik
From a Polish point of view, Caribbean literature may seem exotic and incomprehensible, if only due to the distance, as well as historical and cultural differences. The small number of available translations further hampers our understanding. In recent years, however, we can see a growing interest in Black literature and works in less-prominent languages, as well as the concept decolonisation of the literary and cultural life. The Caribbean fits perfectly into these trends. For Olga Godlewska and Bartosz Wójcik, these issues are their bread and butter – they co-host the Podkast Zamorski and run the Overseas Reading Club. In their conversation with the festival audience, they will show how we can leave the stereotypical image of the exotic Caribbean behind and showcase the cultural richness of this unique region.
