Last year, we initiated a series of festival meetings titled Reading Ukraine. Writers from across our eastern border have been attending the Conrad Festival for many years now; however, due to the war, which has been going on for years now, the number of refugees from Ukraine is growing year by year. Seeing that, we arrived at the conclusion that Ukrainian literature had to become a staple in our programme, not only to showcase outstanding creative actors to Polish and Ukrainian audiences, but also to allow these audiences to mix with each other and form a Conrad Community of readers. This year, as part of the Reading Ukraine series, we are going to talk with three novelists, whose recent books discuss the situation in war-torn Ukraine.
